Senior Partner

Will brings together formal training, practical experience, and a lifelong connection to the world of surveying and construction. After completing his Building Surveying degree at Anglia Ruskin University, he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Will’s early career was shaped by several years working with a damp and timber treatment company as well as various Builders and Developers where he gained hands-on experience diagnosing issues and carrying out remedial work.

Much of Will’s expertise was honed under the guidance of his father, Norman Pewter FRICS, founder of Pewter Partnership. From accompanying him on surveys to learning the nuances of period and listed buildings, Will absorbed the knowledge, care, and craftsmanship that define the practice today. He has also renovated multiple properties in the UK and France, blending technical skill with a creative eye to bring older buildings back to life as well as Construction of several new build properties for Clients.

When he’s not surveying, Will can be found enjoying the countryside, walking his dogs, or working on the ongoing restoration of his own Grade II listed home and grounds.

Surveyor

Matt Smith, BSc (Hons) Assoc. RICS, joined the Pewter Partnership as a Senior Surveyor in 2020, bringing with him a broad and respected knowledge of both modern and period properties. He is known for producing well‑detailed, comprehensive RICS Homebuyer Reports and Building Surveys.

Matt’s early career was spent with specialist building companies, where he gained hands‑on experience of how buildings are constructed and repaired, including specialist work on historic structures such as cathedrals. This practical foundation has been invaluable throughout his surveying career, giving him a deep understanding of building behaviour and traditional construction methods.

After completing his BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying at Anglia Ruskin University, Matt went on to build extensive experience with several prestigious organisations. His roles included project manager for a team of loss adjusters, contracts manager for an established estate agency, and surveyor for respected firms such as Ward Howard, Snow Walker, and also Countrywide, where he worked as a specialist building surveyor.

Outside of work, Matt is an accomplished guitarist and particularly enjoys attending live gigs. He also leads an active lifestyle, with interests including swimming and cycling.

Surveyor

Adam has built a strong and trusted reputation within the Cambridge property market through his extensive experience in residential surveying and property consultancy. As a qualified property professional, he holds respected industry credentials including Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (AssocRICS), Chartered Association of Building Engineers (ACABE), and is a registered RICS Valuer Registration Scheme (VRS) valuer.

With many years of hands-on experience in the residential property sector, Adam specialises in providing professional property surveying services for homebuyers, homeowners, investors, and developers. His expertise includes detailed building surveys, pre-purchase property inspections, and residential valuations, helping clients understand the true condition, value, and potential risks associated with a property before making important financial decisions. Adam is known for delivering clear, thorough, and practical surveying reports that translate complex building issues into straightforward advice, enabling clients to move forward with confidence when buying, selling, or maintaining a property.

Outside of work, Adam enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. He is a keen runner and has completed four marathons, proudly raising funds for charities.

Business Development & Compliance Manager

Vicky brings a wealth of experience to the Pewter Partnership team and has been an integral part of the practice for the past ten years. Before joining the firm, she spent a decade working within prestigious estate agencies, during which she became MNAEA qualified.

Through her work with the Pewter Partnership, Vicky has also developed a thorough knowledge of the entire RICS surveying and valuation process, enabling her to support clients and the team with a strong grasp of professional standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance. Her calm, organised approach and excellent communication skills make her an invaluable member of the practice. Vicky is also ACII qualified, a respected designation awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Outside of work, Vicky leads an active lifestyle and enjoys caring for horses, countryside walks with her dogs, swimming, and spending time with her family. She has travelled extensively and loves exploring new places, soaking up the culture and ambience of both cities and beach destinations. In quieter moments, she enjoys reading to expand her knowledge and unwind.

Personal Assistant

Ruth has been part of the Pewter Partnership since 2002, supporting the team with the deep industry knowledge that only decades of experience can bring. Her property career began in 1987 and has taken her through estate agency, residential and commercial surveying and valuation, Building Control, and the Robust Details scheme for new‑build developments. This breadth of experience gives her a unique understanding of how the property world fits together, able to combine practical property expertise with strong communication skills.

Raised in a military family, Ruth lived in Germany and Malaysia before returning to the UK to complete her education. She later studied psychology with the Open University, and since has taken various writing courses, and also qualified as an SEO copywriter.

Away from work, Ruth blogs about self‑help and personal growth, and has ghost‑written fourteen books. She also enjoys long countryside walks and caring for her two Tibetan Terriers, who keep her happily busy.

Admin Assistant

Harriet Pewter was born in Norfolk to a country family and moved to Essex fifteen years ago when she married Will Pewter. She works closely with the Pewter Partnership team, providing essential administrative and secretarial support to assist the smooth running of the practice.

Harriet enjoys a wide range of country pursuits, including clay shooting, along with dog walking, cookery, photography, arts and crafts, and she also plays the guitar. She leads an active lifestyle, with skiing, marathon running, badminton, and tennis all featuring among her favourite pastimes.

In her earlier years, Harriet travelled around the world, with two years in Thailand and a year in Melbourne, Australia, where she worked for a racing yard.

Her love of horses has been a lifelong passion. She competes in BSJA show‑jumping, and her horses have competed internationally, including on the MET Tour in Olivia and Belgium. One of her horses won three FEI international show‑jumping competitions in 2019. Harriet also holds BHS Levels II, III and IV Riding Instructor qualifications, reflecting her depth of knowledge and commitment to equestrian sport.
